1. Policy decisions and government steps

👉 Curriculum review task force formed:

A separate task force has been formed by the government to review the curriculum in a comprehensive manner to make school-level education relevant and practical (April 23)

👉 Preparations to bring ECD into the school structure:

Discussions have been underway on formally incorporating ECD education into the basic education structure up to grade 8 and converting it into a post and increasing the service facilities of teachers.

👉 Proposal for 15/15 days salary:

A debate has begun on the feasibility and testing of a system of paying government school teachers twice a month (every 15/15 days) like civil servants.

2. Teachers’ Complaints and Demands

👉 Rest Teachers’ Discontent:

The Nepal Relief Teachers’ National Committee has expressed strong objections to the 10-point attention letter submitted by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation to the Minister of Education, saying that the issue of temporary and relief teachers has been ignored. They have insisted that their demands should be heard.

3. School and Student Targeted Activities

👉 Schools Closed Due to the Impact of Yarsagumba Collection:

With the start of the Yarsagumba collection season in the Himalayan region, most of the students and parents have moved to the lakes, and schools in those areas have been closed for about 15 days.

👉 Children from Holding Centers in School:

52 children who are at risk for various reasons and are taking shelter in the Holding Center have been sent to school regularly, connecting them to the mainstream of education.

👉 ‘Kathmandu School Partnership’ Program:

It has been announced to launch the ‘Kathmandu School Partnership’ program to improve the educational quality of schools and exchange good practices and resources among schools.

4. Educational Competition and Entrepreneurship

👉 Hult Prize Nepal National 2026 (Hult Prize):

The national competition of ‘Hult Prize’, Nepal’s largest competition for student entrepreneurship, is being held on Baisakh 26. In this, more than 160 student entrepreneurs are presenting their innovative business ideas related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

👉 Emphasis on collaboration in technical education:

The Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has given special emphasis on working with the government to produce technical and skill-oriented manpower.

👉 International educational fairs:

Targeting students who want to go abroad for higher education, various educational consulting organizations have organized educational fairs including ‘Multi-Destination Edu Fair’ in Kathmandu, which is expected to help students understand the trends in global education.
