👉 Class 12 Examinations Continue:

Despite various administrative obstacles, the Class 12 examinations are being conducted. Although the teachers’ agitation and the resignation of the then Minister of Education created some confusion for some time, it was decided not to stop the examinations even if other employees were mobilized. About 500,000 students have participated in the examinations this year.

👉 School Education Bill (agreement to remove SEE for Class 10):

An important agreement has been reached in the subcommittee of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives on the removal of the current SEE examination for Class 10 under the School Education Bill. As provided by the constitution, preparations are underway to conduct the Class 8 examination at the local level and only the National Examination Board for Class 12 as the final examination at the school level.

👉 Scholarship Results and Grants Commission Notices:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has published the scholarship results for economically weaker and Dalit students studying at the postgraduate level. Along with this, the commission has also drawn the attention of universities to improve the quality of higher education and submit progress reports on HEMIS (Higher Education Management Information System).

👉 National Communication and Information Technology Day and Education:

‘National Communication and Information Technology Day 2026’ is celebrated on Baisakh 17. Celebrated with the main slogan “Expansion of Information Technology: The Basis of Sustainable Development”, on this day, stakeholders have emphasized on increasing access to technology in school education and higher education, making the examination system agile and converting learning to a completely digital system.

👉 Demand for educational reforms and curriculum revision:

This week, concerns have been expressed in various educational forums regarding the increasing privatization and politicization of education. Pressure has been put on policymakers to address the despondency and unemployment seen among students by saying that practical and skill-based curricula are needed rather than theoretical knowledge. In addition, there has been a call for the implementation of the ‘School Education Reform Charter’ to improve the educational quality of community schools.

This week’s overall educational scenario seems to place the restructuring of the examination system and the use of technology in education as major priorities.
