1. National Elections and Holidays in Educational Institutions

✍️ Schools as Voting Centers: Teaching and learning in most schools and campuses across the country was affected this week due to the Federal Parliament elections held on Falgun 21 (March 5). The government had declared a public holiday in educational institutions as most community and institutional schools were used as voting centers.

2. Stakeholders’ Concerns About Public Education and Budget

✍️ ‘Rising Budget, Declining Trust’: Despite the allocation of more than Rs 2011 billion for the education, science and technology sectors in the national budget, the issue of decreasing attraction of students and parents to public schools has received attention this week. The media and educationists have drawn the attention of the government by saying that the quality of education is deteriorating compared to the investment.

3. Preparation for Examination, Admission and Academic Session

✍️ Preparation for National Examination Board (NEB): Preparations for the annual examinations of classes 11 and 12 to be conducted in the upcoming Baisakh have been intensified. As the deadline for determining the examination center expired on Falgun 15 as per the board’s academic calendar, the final stages of examination center management and question paper preparation have progressed this week.

✍️ CTEVT Examination Firm: The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training has requested applications (examination forms) from students for the diploma level third year, second part semester examination.

✍️ Call for admissions for the new academic session: As the new academic session (2083) approaches, various major schools in the country, including the Sainik Residential College, have opened applications for new student admissions.

✍️ Preparation for textbook distribution: In order to provide books on time for the upcoming academic session, authorized vendors have been called to register for the sale and distribution of textbooks and other educational materials.

4. Extracurricular Activities

✍️ Inter-College Futsal Completed: Aiming at the physical and mental development of students, the ‘4th BCA Cup Men’s Inter-College Futsal Competition’ organized by DAV College, Kathmandu has been completed. 28 teams from various colleges in and outside the valley participated in the competition.
